Claire Hubbard-Hall - Mark Austin - Sky News

Following the news that Blaise Metreweli had been appointed head of MI6, historian and author Claire Hubbard-Hall provided expert commentary for a range of media outlets.

Claire’s book Her Secret Service: The Forgotten Women of British Intelligence reveals how women have been pivotal in British intelligence, since the inception of the Secret Service Bureau in 1909. This meant Claire could provide the perfect context for the appointment of the first woman to serve as its head.

First, Claire joined Naga Munchetty on BBC Radio 5 Live:

Across the Atlantic – where her book is titled Secret Servants of the Crown – Claire spoke to Joyce Hackel The World from PHX.

Finally, Claire talked with Mark Austin on Sky News (above), and to finish the evening BBC Radio 4’s The World Tonight.

Her Secret Service: The Forgotten Women of British Intelligence is out now, published by Weidenfeld and Nicholson in the UK and by Kensington in the US (as Secret Servants of the Crown).
