02/02/2023

Century, an imprint of Penguin Random House, are to publish the first book from the smash-hit podcast Help I Sexted My Boss with etiquette expert William Hanson and Radio 1 DJ Jordan North. Zennor Compton, Editorial Director for Century Non-Fiction, commissioned the book, acquiring world rights from Northbank Talent Management and AudioAlways.

Since its launch in 2018, Help I Sexted My Boss has become one of the UK’s favourite comedy podcasts, hitting number one in the Spotify charts and garnering 17 million listens.

Navigating the challenges of modern life can be tough. What do you do if you stumble across your dad on Grindr? How do you ask your mate for that £50 back? And what should you do if you’ve accidentally sexted your boss? In this hilarious and essential handbook, Hanson and North are on hand to solve our 21st century dilemmas, providing a definitive, witty guide to avoiding awkward moments, in any situation. From dinner parties to picky teas, first dates to flatmate dramas, now you can read brand new useful and useless advice from these unlikely best friends.

William Hanson and Jordan North are from very different worlds. Hanson a Southern etiquette consultant and expert in all things proper, working with royalty and CEOS. North is a Northern radio and TV presenter, was first runner-up to Giovanna Fletcher in the 2020 I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here and self-professed expert in all things ‘common’. In January, he was announced as the presenter of BBC Three’s Go Hard Or Go Home, and together they have appeared on various radio and TV programs from ITV This Morning, BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio 2’s Steve Wright in the Afternoon. Together they’ve entertained millions of podcast listeners across the world. Now they bring their respective encyclopaedic knowledge of manners and lashings of down to earth honesty to help you navigate the challenges of modern life.

Hanson: ‘I am so excited to be giving our loyal listeners, and new readers, our hard backed offering this Christmas. To be able to take the advice we have been giving on our podcast since 2018 and expand and finesse it for this new manual for modern life is incredibly thrilling. I suspect my own contributions to our literary oeuvre will be full of highly sophisticated language, complex clauses and thought-provoking and applicable advice for modern life. Whereas Jordan’s parts won’t take up too much ink.’

North said: ‘I cannot believe I am writing my first ever book, and with my best mate! In the early days of the podcast we would often joke that one day we would have a book out. Like William, I too am super excited to be offering advice on modern day dilemmas to both our loyal listeners and new readers! We can guarantee that the Help I Sexted My Boss book will be in a similar vein to the podcast. Fun, silly, a bit rude and with plenty of passive aggressive comments from William.’

Compton said: ‘Much to the disdain of my fellow commuters, William and Jordan have made me snort-laugh in public many, many times while listening to their podcast. As a certified “G n Diva”, I’m thrilled to be publishing William and Jordan’s book. Their playful rivalry is such fun to listen to and is just as lively on the written page. Whether you’re already a fan of the podcast or not, Help I Sexted My Boss will be the must-have book for Christmas and beyond.’

The book will be published on 9th November 2023 by Century, an imprint of Penguin Random House, in hardback and eBook, with a simultaneous audiobook publication from Penguin Random House Audio.
