Debut novelist Catherine Mangan signs two-book deal with Sphere

Sphere has acquired two novels by debut author Catherine Mangan, the first of which – The Italian Escape – will be published next spring.

Viola Hayden, commissioning editor for Sphere Fiction, acquired World English language rights from Hannah Weatherill at Northbank Talent Management.

The Italian Escape follows newly and unexpectedly single Niamh Kelly, as she makes the drastic decision to leave Dublin behind her and move to Italy’s Ligurian coast. ‘The moment Niamh stepped aboard the ferry to Portofino I knew this book would capture my heart and imagination entirely’, said Hayden. ‘The sparkling sea and sun, the delicious food and the Aperol Spritz transports you to Niamh’s side. Catherine has written a truly wonderful escapist novel, through which we can all live the dream and open a wine bar on the coast of Italy.’
